Reflection: Let’s be honest - when you’re navigating life without the kids you thought you’d have, there are quiet, gut-punch moments where the silence in the house feels loud. You find yourself staring at the wall, wondering, Is this it? Is my story over? At Healing Roots Together, we hear it all the time, “I don’t know what I want for myself because all I ever wanted was to be a mom.” When one dream has occupied every corner of your heart for a while, imagining an alternate life path can feel disorienting and even a little insulting. That grief is real, and it deserves to be honored. But grief isn't the end of your story.

Hope is what propels us forward. It isn't a sugar-coated cliché but rather it’s the gritty, conscious decision to believe you can still have a joy-filled life without kids. If you can’t imagine an awesome future yet, start by taking an inventory of what is already working. Who shows up for you when things get dark? What makes you laugh? What lights up your senses or brings you excitement? Hope grows in this exploration because it bypasses the pressure of inventing a whole new life. You aren't forcing a grand vision; you are simply noticing evidence that you are still capable of joy. You recognize what is working for you and then you do more of that. That momentum will reveal for you what other jewels of life await you. - Caroline Bloss
