Our Approach

We understand being an adult without children can be an isolating experience because it is a societal expectation. We understand that this experience can lead you to feeling “othered.” We understand the range of feelings when you find yourself at family gatherings, social situations, or work functions and the inevitable question comes up — “Do you have children?” We incorporate gardening and caring for houseplants into our group curriculum because we have found that through nature’s embrace we can heal the ache of childlessness, together. We believe that by nurturing nature we nurture ourselves.

We strive to cultivate a compassionate community where shared grief blossoms into healing, with gardens as our gentle companions.

Providing Support for Childless Women

We offer group coaching which provides a safe and supportive environment for women experiencing decreased life satisfaction due to childlessness. This group provides members the opportunity to share their experiences and learn from each other through empathy, validation, and support. Most importantly, members can practice new skills and connect with others who are facing similar challenges, helping members to feel less alone and isolated while they build a sense of community and belonging. At Healing Roots Together, caring for houseplants and gardens is used as a therapeutic tool for personal growth in order to rediscover our inherent ability to nurture and blossom.

Group members will gain peer support and learn skills around the following areas:

  • Understanding childlessness and the related emotions

  • Building emotional awareness

  • Strengthening mental resilience

  • Improving self-regulation

  • Communication skills development

  • Building a fulfilling life

  • Planning ahead for continued well-being
