Reflection: My favorite season is summer. Growing up in the Northeast, I dreaded winter and spent years blaming the cold and gray days for how disconnected I felt. This year, I chose something different. I faced the wind. I let the cold hit my skin. I held snow in my hands, breathed in the sharp air, and let a few flakes melt on my tongue. I wanted to know if the warmth I associate with summer could exist inside me, even in winter. And it can. I don’t have to wait for light or harvest seasons to feel like myself. I am my own warmth. My own invincible summer. A reminder that even when life is uncomfortable, we can choose how we meet each season. -Adriana Rodriguez-Baptiste
