Reflection: Our brains are on absolute overload. Between the endless scrolling and the ridiculous amount of random information we absorb daily (stuff that has nothing to do with us, won't benefit us, and actually ends up stressing us out) we are completely drowning out the most important voice in our lives: our own.

When we fill every spare second with noise, we become unfamiliar with ourselves. We trade our inner knowing for external distractions. But what happens when we make a proactive, conscious effort to stop this habit?

When we step away from the screens and intentionally embrace the stillness, something beautiful happens. We allow our true feelings to rise to the surface, unedited and unbothered by the outside world. Giving our feelings the room to breathe is part of the healing process instead of distracting ourselves the moment we feel discomfort.

When we put our phones and computers down, and turn the TV off, we also give our imagination the space it needs to flourish and we begin to tap into ourselves in deeper, and unpredicted ways. Without the constant chatter of the world telling us who to be, we open the door to our own intuitive wisdom discovering parts of ourselves we didn’t even realize were waiting to be met. We might find a sudden flash of creative inspiration, a long-buried dream resurfacing, or a sense of peace we thought was out of reach. When we dare to sit with the silence, we don't just find quiet - we find our truth.

This past Monday, I decided to take control of my screen time by removing my social media apps from my phone. To access them now, I have to manually search for them in the App Store each time. This simple boundary has helped me to cut my scrolling down to just twice a day, and in only 72 hours, the difference this has made is profound. My focus is sharper, my mind is clearer, and my mood has improved. I also recognize how often I reach for my phone and quite frankly, this awareness is motivating me that much more to keep going with this new protocol I’ve created for myself. - Caroline Bloss
