Reflection: Growth comes from the small, daily choices we make and it’s not usually a breakthrough moment. It comes from the pause before we react, the permission to rest, and the effort to be kind when it’s inconvenient. I used to think these were just small things, but I see now that they are everything. They’re the quiet link between who we are becoming inside and how we touch the world outside. We tend to treat working on self and caring for the world as two separate endeavors, but they’re not. Especially on days when the world feels heavy, seemingly tiny gestures like holding the door for someone or smiling at a stranger become our most important work. In the moment, they feel like no big deal. Over time, you begin to notice that you are a softer, kinder, and more patient person, and that you interact with everything in the world differently. If we all took better care of our own inner lives and the people right in front of us, the world would be noticeably gentler. -Caroline Bloss
Self-care tip:
Take a moment today to do something kind for another person. This tiny act will nourish you and will ripple out into the world.
