Reflection: Sometimes, pain can become strangely comforting - even addictive. We get used to its contours, its stories, its pull. The next time you find yourself caught in the emotional distress of not having children, pause and take note. What are you thinking about exactly? How long have you been sitting in these feelings? You always have the choice to gently shift your focus and to turn toward something that offers even a small measure of relief. In moments like these, distractions aren’t avoidance but instead they are kindness. This isn’t about dismissing your pain, but about recognizing the fine line between honoring it and marinating in it. Then ask yourself this very important question: Who am I when I’m not in pain? The answer might lead you back to a part of yourself that’s been waiting patiently to be seen. - Caroline Bloss
