Reflection: It’s a quiet thought many of us carry: Life was supposed to be different. That sentence alone can send us into a state of panic. It’s the feeling that the last train has left the station and you’re standing there with your bags, no directions, and no plan. But what if that ache isn’t a failure? What if it’s just life tapping us on the shoulder, asking us to loosen our white-knuckle grip and let it do its thing? I’m learning to stop swimming upstream. For someone who likes plans, control, and a solid backup plan for the backup plan, surrender feels borderline irresponsible. But the river turns out to know where it’s going. When I stop trying to manage every bend, twist, and turn my despair often softens into calm. Letting go of what I thought life should look like has opened the door to experiences I never could’ve planned and definitely didn’t see coming. This isn’t about pretending pain doesn’t exist. It’s about honoring the pain and then letting go, courageously. So unclench your jaw, drop your shoulders, take a breath, and be grateful for the blessings that are here now.  Then…ride the river! -Caroline Bloss
