This quote serves as a reminder of the value of persistence over speed. It's easy to feel discouraged when progress seems slow or when others appear to be moving ahead faster. But Confucius emphasizes a different kind of wisdom - one that honors endurance, patience, and commitment. Consistent effort, no matter how small, is more meaningful than bursts of energy that fizzle out. Progress isn't always linear or fast; sometimes it’s quiet, gradual, and unnoticed by others. Yet every small step forward builds momentum. What truly matters is not giving up.

Let’s unpack this:

Being childless requires intention, growth, and resilience. There’s quiet work happening in the background, like the work of redefining meaning, of nurturing relationships in other ways, of creating, of learning, and of healing. Every step I take to live a full and purposeful life despite what’s missing is a form of persistence. These steps don’t have to be leaps. Baby steps are absolutely ok. Sometimes it’s about getting up each morning and making space for gratitude, hope, and possibility. This is beautiful progress.  - Adriana Rodriguez-Baptiste
